In 2001 Shawn Brown co-founded Diamond Educators, a Roxbury-based non-profit mentoring organization. In addition to the countless hours he spends with Diamond Educators, Shawn also has a full-time job as a Career Specialist and is a mentor to 25 teens annually.
As a testament to the power of the program, many of the youth Shawn has impacted have become mentors themselves to younger children. In only 7 years, 400 youth have already been mentored through the program in twenty schools throughout the city.
Amazingly, over 95% of youth mentored through Diamond Educators have graduated from high school and 80% have gone to college.
